    Minutes:

    Apologies were given by Councillors Marleen Haworth and Clare Pritchard.

    Councillor Kimberley Whitehead substituted for Councillor Pritchard.

    The minutes of the meeting Cabinet Street Naming Committee held on the 21st of May 2025 were submitted for approval as a correct record.

     

    Recommended – That the minutes be received and approved as a correct record.

    To seek approval for the naming of the following street for a new-build residential development located off Mary Street, Rishton. The former site was called Albert Mill.

     

    ·         Ernest Marsden Close

     

    Recommended - That the street name is approved as the single street name suggested above.

    Minutes:

    The report was presented by Mr Ayaz Mahmood, Senior ICT Officer and Mr Sayed Ahmed, Land and Geospatial Analyst presented the report to the committee.

     

    The Street Name recommended was Ernest Marsden Close after the Rishton born scientist who helped to discover the atom.

     

    The name was selected in accordance with the Councils Street Naming and Numbering Policy which is summarised in the report.

     

    The application details a street name for 30 new dwellings as detailed in the appendix documents which is located of Mary Street, Rishton.

     

    Consultations were undertaken with Royal Mail and North West Ambulance Service who raised no issues with the proposed Street Name.

    No response was received from the Fire or Police service.

     

    Resolved – The Street Name was approved as the recommended Ernest Marsden Close with the numbering sequence odds and evens highlighted on page 11 of the agenda.
