Minutes: The Chief Planning and Transportation Officer submitted a report to seek approval for the naming of the following Streets for a new build residential development located off Ribblesdale Avenue, Accrington.
· Bowler Avenue · Fields Avenue
Councillor Miles Parkinson requested to rename the second street (Fields Way) to David Lloyd Way. Although this does go against the Council’s Street Naming and Numbering Policy which states not to name streets after living people. There are numerous exceptional circumstances to justify the reason and to preserve the exclusivity of this kind of naming it needs to be applied sparingly.
David Lloyd is already a Freedom of the Borough and this would be another great recognition to show him how proud the Council is of his service and cricketing years within the borough.
Councillor Munsif Dad confirmed he supported the recommendation.
Resolved – That the streets be named Bowler Avenue and David Lloyd Way.
